Sitting with the Unresolved

Art Prompt: Create an image that represents something in your life that feels unresolved or unsettled.

Materials: Watercolor, watercolor paper, watercolor paint brushes

My Art Response

Watercolor naturally mirrors uncertainty, colors move freely, sometimes blending in unexpected ways. While painting, I found myself reflecting on a loss that never fully found closure. The image became messy and ungrounded, which felt honest. This activity gave space to accept that not all experiences tie up neatly, and that sitting with the discomfort can be part of the healing.

Journal Prompts

  1. What emotions come up when you think about situations that feel unfinished or unresolved?

  2. What would it look like to release the need for answers and instead focus on what you can control?

  3. How has your understanding of closure changed as you’ve grown older?

  4. What part of you struggles most with uncertainty, and what does that part need to feel soothed?
