South Jersey is known for having an array of different spots of incredible cuisine with an array of choices for whichever “theme” is your favorite. There are a handful of places in Ocean City and surrounding that house some of the best authentic Mexican in all of the state. I spent some time living in Hammonton New Jersey in the last couple of years, and there is one spot that is truly a Hidden Gem of New Jersey. It is authentic Mexican “on wheels”.

Tacos Al Carbon is a little ways away up the Black Horse Pike, but it is worth taking the drive! Their business was built 25 years ago, and has continued to grow and expand ever since.

Joanna Garcia

One of the owner’s daughters Joanna Garcia works for the family business and is one of the many employees that greet you with smiles at the window. I asked Joanna what she thinks is the Hidden Gem of their Taco Truck. “Personally, I feel like Tostadas are so underrated. They’re nice and crunchy, topped with beans, meat, cabbage, onions, cilantro, and cotija cheese. Traditionally, we eat tostadas with beans, cheese, and salsa (which hits the spot) or with tinga de pollo which we have everyday. I like to add avocado to it too, it’s so yummy! You can, of course, choose your favorite choice of meat. You really can’t go wrong.”

“The fan favorite is the El Burrito Chicano which is our Wednesday special but the Tostada is part of our daily menu that is one of my favorite things!”

An authentic Mexican Food truck located at 107 Peach street in Hammonton, New Jersey. It is a small family business that has been operating and bringing quality for 25 years!

**First Truck**

The First ever truck in 1998 that opened in Hammonton New Jersey.

**Second Truck**

The second truck was originally red, but it got painted white

**Third Truck**

Truck number three is when it begins to be transformed into looking more like their current trucks!

**Fourth Truck**

The Fourth Truck now has their signature logo with black all around and the silver bottom half

**Fifth Truck**

The fifth truck is their final and current design that you can find daily on the corner of Peach Street in Hammonton New Jersey

There is something really moving about a family that had a goal 25 years ago, and has progressed throughout the years to where they are now! The progression in their trucks alone shows a group of people that have hungered after growth, improvement, and creating a space to serve the community some of their family favorites! Tacos Al Tio currently runs 4 trucks all year round!
