Sometimes it’s extremely helpful to have something approachable which allows us to feel like it’s easier to GET MOVING. The Atlantic County Bikeway is a 7.56 mile paved path that is right in the middle of a lot of familiar roads and locations that many drive by daily and do not even realize! I have lived in South Jersey my entire life, and have driven past this trail a number of times, but I did not recognize it was even there. The path’s route runs between Harbor Square (formerly known as Shore Mall) in Egg Harbor Township and the Atlantic County Institute of Technology in Hamilton Township. The bike path has three trail head parking areas, located at the Harbor Square, the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, and at English Creek Avenue. Location maps are placed at the three trail heads with approximate distances along the path. This is the perfect local spot to be able to ride your bike, push the stroller with a friend, or go for a run!

“Working out is something that I have always felt like I am either fully committed to, or I struggle to approach. Having somewhere that is easy and quick to get to, allows physical exercise to feel attainable. I am learning that I am drawn to moving my body through running and walking less for the physical appearance results, and more for my mind. First, there is a sense of being “human” when going outside, breathing fresh air, taking in the views of the trees, passing by dogs, and other people. Second, it is the feelings following the walk or run including mental clarity, reduced anxious thoughts, motivation, and improved sleep. I find it helpful to play a podcast, listen to my favorite album, or listen to an audio book, and get moving.”
