Egg Harbor Township Nature Reserve
The Nature Reserve is tucked back right off Zion Road in Egg Harbor Township New Jersey. It’s a 1.6 mile loop that takes about 30-40 minutes to complete. The terrain varies from woods, hills, dirt, gravel, and changes in scenery. There is an “upper path” and then a path along the water that is lower. The Nature Reserve is dog friendly, if the dog remains on the leash! There are two different entrances for the Nature Reserve and porta potties at either entrance.
The park is open year round, and it makes for a beautiful hike in a place that doesn’t look like most of New Jersey. If you are local, you understand the beauty of walking the shore towns, the beaches, or the boardwalk. This is a fun change of scenery as you walk through woods and trees while looking out at a beautiful pond in the center.
There is such power and beauty with being in nature. It does something for the mind, body, and soul. The nature reserve also acts as an incredible place to meet up and have community with a friend. Walking and talking the trails allows you to build relationships and get some fresh air and exercise.
One of the grassy hills along the upper trail has been known to be one of the larger sledding hills for our area. NJ has little to 0 hills to sled on, but there have been steps built in at the EHT nature reserve, to carry your sled to the top!
